Renee Edwards, CEO of Skin Kandii, Tampa Bay Launderers, and the Founder of the Saturday Morning Shoppe says, “growing to Lawrenceville is a huge moment for me, generating economic development from the southside of St. Petersburg, and watching small business startup, feels really good.” The Chamber and City of St. Petersburg have been instrumental in the growth of the Saturday Morning Shoppe. Edwards is looking for the same help in Lawrenceville.

The Saturday Morning Shoppe is the largest minority owned business marketplace on the southside of St. Petersburg. Edwards partnered with the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball team in June of 2021. Along with 120 other Minority based entrepreneurs, Edwards has the Market at the Tropicana Field every first Saturday of the month with vendors selling all their items that range from African attire, snow cones, soul food, gourmet cheesecakes, and much more. Renee completed a three-month business training series as part of the Community Business Development Initiative (CBDI) the past. The CBDI, funded by the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg and implemented as a partnership by the St. Petersburg Area Chamber, the City, the 2020 Plan team and others. Edwards also took part in a companion initiative supported by the same partners – the CATCH program led by the Tampa Bay Black Business Investment Corporation.
